Attention all DC and fighting game fans. Get your button mashing fingers ready for the all new fighting game that has recently hit shelves, Injustice: Gods Among Us. From the creator who brought us Mortal Kombat's and Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, Ed Boon has now developed another great installment to his fighting franchise, Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Plot

Injustice Gods Among Us is based on the Injustice DC Comics where Joker is about to blow up the city of Metropolis, when all of a sudden a few characters are teleported to an alternate Universe where Joker has destroyed Metropolis and tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane and his unborn child.  With large amounts of rage and anger Superman starts his own regime.  A few characters led by Batman decide to rebel against Superman’s regime and call themselves 'The Insurgency', the teleported heroes find themselves caught in the middle of this huge battle against Superman and his followers and must help The Insurgency fight against Superman's regime.

Gameplay

Injustice: Gods Among Us is the most interactive fighting game I have ever played and what is most impressive is that you can seriously use anything from your surroundings to throw, explode, ride and kick into your opponent. There are also level transitions where you can kick your opponent through a wall, or teleport to access another area.  For example, in the Arkham Asylum arena you can kick your opponent into a cell where Killer Croc, The Penguin, The Riddler and Two-face all take turns in beating up your opponent and throwing him into the next area.

There are 24 characters to choose from, 12 of which are super-hero characters such as Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Hawk Girl, Nightwing, Raven, Shazam, Superman and Wonder Woman.  There are also 12 super villain characters who are Ares, Bane, Black Adam, Catwoman, Deathstroke, Doomsday, Harley Quinn, Joker, Killer Frost, Lex Luthor, Sinestro and Solomon Grundy.

Injustice: Gods Among Us contains a wealth of unlockables and you can see these is a section called the “Archives” where every time you level up you get an access card which can be used to purchase extras such as Battle arenas, Concept Art, Music and Alternate Character suits. Also by doing certain things, for example, winning 10 times in a row you can unlock Portraits, Titles and Icons which is like every other fighting game titles and icons.

After finishing the campaign mode there is so much more to do such as Battle Mode, which consists of different modes such as speed run, impossible versus every character or classic battle which after defeating the final boss you get your own unique ending for the specific character you used. Another mode called S.T.A.R Labs which is a lot like spec ops, will have you do certain things with certain characters to unlock all 3 stars on each level. This mode contains around 250 missions and if you get all 3 stars on each mission the you receive a special skin for a certain character.

Injustice: Gods Among Us has a very unique feature where you can unlock items from playing the iOS verison on either your iPhone or iPad. The Injustice: Gods Among Us app is quite similar to the actual console version, however you use character cards that you can unlock, buy and level up. Also by playing Injustice: Gods Among Us on your console you also automatically unlock items on the app as well, it’s a fun little app and I recommend downloading and playing it to get some extra goodies.

Visuals and Audio

From Metropolis to Gotham City and even Atlantis plus more, Injustice: Gods Among Us has all the greatest maps to challenge your opponents. DC fans will absolutely love everything about each map from the details in the backgrounds, characters, certain vehicles, statues and costumes. The audio used was just great with familiar actors back in action to voice their characters such as Batman and Harley Quinn from the Arkham series. Graphics and characters appearances used in Injustice: Gods Among Us are just amazing and were very well done.

Overall

Injustice: Gods Among Us is just an amazing game and for any DC or fighting fan this is a game you must definitely have as part of your collection. There is plenty of value here, from the great campaign, to the multiplayer modes.  Fans of the genre will be hard pressed to find any flaws here and you will certainly find an immense amount of value and replayability. For the rest of the gaming populous, there is a lot of fun to be had here and you may well just be consumed by the DC universe as well.  A must buy.
